My Story
On October 3 2025 my beautiful niece Willow was born at a tiny 4lb 8oz. She had laboured breathing and was whipped to the NICU unit at Burnley General. We found out after numerous tests that her oesophagus hadn't formed properly and her trachea had attached to her stomach, a condition called TOF. She was transferred over to Manchester children's hospital where at a day old she underwent a 5 hour operation. We were told that she might be in the hospital for months and with us living over an hour away my brother and his girlfriend were obviously worried about where they could stay to be near to Willow. They applied for a place at the Ronald McDonald building which is across the road from the hospital. Luckily they were given a room and this took enormous pressure off them in such a horrendous time. Luckily Willow was home after 3 and half weeks but being able to be so close to Willow whilst she got better was a huge relief to them both. This charity helps so many families be near their sick children without the stress of worrying about finding and funding somewhere to stay to be close by.
