My Story
Thanks for supporting the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.
We will use the money raised from the Great Manchester Run to buy a new stretcher, which will cost around £2,500.
Carney and I have been part of the team for many years and what a team it is. If you live in the Peaks you'll know what a vital role these volunteers play.
We are a team of 65 operational and 15 support team members. We are on call 365 days per year, 24 hours a day. We cover an area of 500Km2 within the Peak District National Park. The team is 100% voluntary, and we receive no central funding. It costs around £50,000 to run the team each year.
We attend around 120 call-outs per year, which is rising year on year. The bulk of our call-outs are associated with the upland areas of the Peak District, but we also help the other emergency services, more and more, with incidents in and around the urban fringes.
Thanks for your support.
