Update 1st June 2026

It’s the day after the run and we’re all feeling achy but proud of ourselves and each other of what we achieved. We were thankful the weather had cooled a little after last week’s heatwave, and after all our training (and a few injuries along the way!), we all finished the run strong, including some personal bests on the day. Most importantly though, it was an honour for us to run as a team in memory of our dear friend Dave and raise funds in his name for a cause he cared so much about.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported us, it really is appreciated.

The big day is fast approaching and the team have been putting in a lot of time and effort with our training. In 10 days we are looking foward to coming together as a team to celebrate Dave’s life and continue the work he cared so deeply about: supporting carers across Manchester.

Every donation will help us provide meaningful support and breaks for carers, something very close to Dave's heart.

£5 could buy a coffee and cake for a carer at one of our café meet-ups, offering connection and respite

£15 could fund a place at a carers’ rights session, helping someone better understand and access support

£30 could enable a carer to enjoy a day trip - time away to recharge and feel valued

Manchester Carers Forum exists both for carers, and because of, carers.

In 1993 a group of carers in Manchester set up a forum to share their experiences and make their voices heard. They wanted to make sure that what carers do is valued and that carers receive the support they need to continue to care. In the years since, the team at Manchester Carers Forum has built on these founding principles.

We continue to be directed by carers to act on and develop our original vision and mission. Our vision is for every carer in Manchester to have access to the right support at the right time in the right place.

This year our team are taking part in the Great Manchester Run to raise funds for carers' breaks in memory of our Chief Officer, Dave Williams who sadly died in 2025.
